Pun-tificator/Hype Man

As autonomous cars move on to the open road, they will increasingly encounter situations involving high lateral acceleration and limited friction. It is important that we have control strategies that can account for the vehicle's capabilities and limitations. Matt Brown, Mechanical Engineering graduate student, is working on improving the vehicle's ability to make safe maneuvers in driving scenarios it may soon see on the road. By planning multiple trajectories, such as an emergency braking maneuver or lane change, the vehicle can more accurately evaluate its options while on the road.
