Race car drivers show exceptional skill in repeatedly pushing their cars to the limits given the extraordinary and highly dynamic environments experienced during racing. John Kegelman, Mechanical Engineering graduate student, studies how these highly skilled humans control cars at the limits of handling such that these techniques can be adapted to advance vehicle safety systems and aims to capture these abilities for the autonomous car of the future.
